Peer Review Process

Subulana employs a double-blind peer review model in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain concealed throughout the review process. This approach is intended to minimize bias and ensure that manuscript evaluation is based exclusively on scholarly quality. Each manuscript that passes initial editorial screening is evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Final editorial decisions rest with the editor-in-chief.

Step 1   Initial Submission and Editorial Screening

Upon receipt, manuscripts are assessed by the editor-in-chief for alignment with the journal's scope, adherence to submission guidelines, and compliance with ethical standards, including a plagiarism check. Manuscripts failing these criteria are returned to the authors without peer review, typically within five working days.

Step 2   Assignment to Section Editor

Manuscripts passing the initial screen are assigned to a section editor whose expertise corresponds to the manuscript's subject area. The section editor identifies and invites suitable reviewers, manages the review timeline, and provides a preliminary recommendation to the editor-in-chief.

Step 3   Double-Blind Peer Review

A minimum of two independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript for originality, methodological soundness, analytical rigor, and clarity of presentation. Reviewers are asked to submit their reports within four weeks. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors at any stage of the process.

Step 4   Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer reports, the editor-in-chief issues one of four decisions: acceptance without revision, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. In cases of conflicting reviewer recommendations, a third reviewer may be consulted before a final decision is made. Authors are notified of the decision along with the anonymized reviewer comments.

Step 5   Revision and Re-evaluation

Authors are required to submit a revised manuscript accompanied by a detailed response letter addressing each reviewer comment. Revised manuscripts are evaluated by the section editor and, where appropriate, returned to the original reviewers. Authors are allowed a maximum of two rounds of major revision.

Step 6   Acceptance, Copyediting, and Production

Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing and typesetting. Authors receive a proof for review prior to final publication. Upon author approval of the proof, the article is assigned a DOI and published in the upcoming issue.
