AI Tools Usage Policy

Subulana acknowledges the growing availability and use of artificial intelligence tools in academic research and writing. The following policy governs the use of such tools in manuscripts submitted to the journal, and is informed by the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and leading international publishers.

Authorship and AI

AI tools, including large language models and generative text systems, cannot be listed as authors of manuscripts submitted to Subulana. Authorship carries responsibilities for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct of research that AI systems are unable to assume. Any researcher who uses an AI tool in the preparation of their manuscript retains full responsibility for the content of their submission.

Permitted Uses

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for tasks such as grammar checking, language editing, paraphrasing assistance, and literature search support, provided that such use does not compromise the originality or integrity of the scholarly contribution. Authors who use AI tools for any part of the research or writing process must disclose this use in the Methods section or Acknowledgements of their manuscript, specifying the tool used and the nature of its application.

Prohibited Uses

The generation of substantial portions of manuscript text using AI tools is not permitted. The fabrication or manipulation of research data, citations, or results with the assistance of AI tools constitutes research misconduct and will be treated as such. Authors must not use AI tools to produce content that is presented as their own original analysis or argument without clear disclosure.

Transparency and Disclosure

Where AI tools have been used in the preparation of a manuscript, the disclosure statement must specify the name and version of the tool, the purpose for which it was used, and the steps taken by the authors to verify the accuracy and integrity of any AI-generated content. Failure to disclose the use of AI tools where such use has occurred will be treated as a violation of the journal's publication ethics policy.
